DELIGHT’s Ringside chat

Hello Pounds of Clowns, Clown families and friends,

I am continually amazed where clowning can take a person.  Yesterday (Oct. 1), I was on the steps of the state house in Concord, NH for the Special Olympics Buddy Walk.

When I first drove up and saw the hundreds of people, I thought there is no way! I am going be twisting balloons till way after dark with the number of kids that I see.

Before I get out of the car I generally say a prayer that everyone will be safe and enjoy the event. Yesterday I said two. Then I remembered all of the other huge crowds of kids that Delight has twisted balloons for and knew my big clown feet would walk me through the day in fine style.

"Delight" had a great day twisting balloons, laughing with the children and families, sharing joy and laughter. The older children loved that I had rocket balloons for them. The new eyeball balloons on a beginner dog or giraffe made the kids and parents laugh out loud.  It was a quick and fun way to move people through the balloon line. This reminded me once again that going back to basics, but adding a new twist (eyeball balloons) is the best way to move a large number of people thru the wait quickly.

Next Meeting is a Halloween party,

Costumes are invited but not necessary.

Haunting season is soon to be upon us.  In the spirit of the season, I am including a few of my favorite Halloween groaners further on in the newsletter.

Bump a nose!    Mary "DELIGHT" Sheehan
